Revisión/Revision
Culata/Cylinder head:

Don't hemove head when hot to avoid distorsions

Check the clearance between valves and guides, checking the scion"b" and the housing "a".

Scion for aspiration valve = 6,96¸ 6,97 mm

Scion for exhaust valve = 6,945¸ 6,955 mm

Clearance for aspiration valve = 0,03¸ 0,05 mm

Clearance for exhaust valve = 0,045¸ 0,065 mm

Wear limit = 0,1 mm

To extend

Whenfitting new gudes always grind valve seats. Valve guides with externale
diameter increased by 0,1mm are available

Replace the valve if dimension A is more than 0,5mm

If the face P is more than 2mm wide, restore the dimension between 0,7 and 1,2 mm.

Check the deeph of the face of the valve head in relation on the face of the cylinder head which should be d = 0,9¸ 1,1 mm.

Wear limit = 1,8 mm.

Connecting-rod

b = 21,996¸ 22 mm

Clearance between "a" and "b" = 0,025¸ 0,039 mm

Wear limit between "a" and "b" = 0,07 mm

d = 39,994¸ 40,01 mm

Clearance between "c" and "d" = 0,015¸ 0,07 mm

Wear limit between "c" and "d" = 0,15 mm

Engine crankshaft

If wear is greater than 0,1mm grind the crankshaft.

During the grinding operation, do not remove radius material from the journals, otherwise the amount of axle float of the crankshaft will be altered. In addition, check that the radius of the grinding wheel is not less than 2,25 and 2,5 mm.

Crankshaft bushes

b = 41,894¸ 42 mm

Clearance between "a" and "b" = 0,03¸ 0,086 mm

Wear limit between "a" and "b" = 0,18 mm.

Piston and cylinder:

Check the piston diameter at a distance of 15 to 25 mm of the base.

Diference between the diameters = 0,06 y 0,1 mm.

Wear limit between the diameters = 0,15 mm

Maximum out-of-roundness and tapper = 0,06 mm.

To check the state of wear of the piston rings, fit them in the cylinder at the lower end and measure the distance between the free ends, which should be:

Compression ring = 0,35¸ 0,6 mm

Wear limit = 0,8 mm

Oil scraper ring = 0,25¸ 0,55 mm

Wear limit = 0,9 mm

USE CONDITIONS
Robe engine starting procedure
  • Place the engine on a stable base.
  • Introduce the lubricant oil, between the recommended quality and quantity parameters .
  • Introduce the fuel in the tank, well decanted
  • Accelerate slightly the engine
  • Disengage the pulley protection
  • Turn the engine flywheel until find the compression
  • Turn the flywheel in counterclockwise until heard a "CREK" noise from the sprayer, indicatig that the circuit is loaded and the sprayer is good working.
  • Wind up the starting robe on the pulley 2/3 rds of it's length in clockwise, following the arrow of the pulley.
  • Pull and release the robe twice or three times, making the flywheel a reciprocating movement, crossing the compression stroke without overcoming the enutral status
  • Pull the robe hardly to overcome the neutral status.
Speed adjustment
  • With the engine hot, set minimum speed at 1000 RPM and maximum speed at not load at 3150 RPM or 2100 RPM
  • Dismantle injector, carefully clean nozzle holes, check calibration and reassemble
  • Adjust clearances between valves and rockers with the engine hot to 0,15mm.
  • Re-fit rocker cover, coating the joint with jointing compound.
Checking oil pressure
  • Remove union bolt from oil drilling on left hand side of crankcase and connect to it a pressure gauge scaled from 0 to5 Kg/cm2.
  • Start the engine and run up to 3000RPM and wait for the oil temperature to reach 70 to 80ºC.
  • With the engine running at 3000RPM at not load, pressure on gauge should be 3,5 to 4 Kg/cm2.
  • This pressure will tend to stabilize at 2,5 y 3 Kg/cm2 with the engine running at full load and temperature above 70 to 80ºC.
Checking for oil leaks
Testing engine on brake

Checking formaximum power
  • Accelerate the engine to maximum speed at no loadm.
  • Apply load gradually so as to reduce the speed to 2000RPM; 3000RPM or 3600RPM
  • Under theese conditions, check that the time taken by the engine to consume190 gr/CVh.
  • If the resultant time is less than laid down, the conditions of equilibrium on the brake must be altered by altering the load and the eccentric access fuel bolt. When conditions hve been stabilised again, repeat the test for consumption and check that the eccentric access fuel bolt is striking the fuelinjection pump control lever. If not, there can be 2 reasons for this:
  • With the engine at the smoke limit, the power developèd is less than laid down. This results from insufficient running-in and not bad combustion. If this is found to be the case with the pump setting locked, as timeelapses the engine speed will increase. The load can then be increased, bringing the speed back to 3000rpm. If the engine labours excessively in returning to the rated speed, the cause is mechanical resistance and must be determined.
  • With the engine running at 3000RPM and normal power being developed, or slightly less tan the maximum and the engine tends to smoke, this means that combustion is defective and the following should be checked: -Injector; -Timing; -That the nozzle holder is not causing stress to the nozzle in the mounting in the cylinder head; -Calibration of injector; -Valve gear; Valve clearance.
Preservation When the engine is to be unused for long periods proceed as follows:
  • Run the engine for a minimum of 15 minutes
  • Drain oil for sump and replace with protective oil MIL-L-644- P9
  • Run engine for 10 minutes at 2000 RPM
  • With engine hot, drain sump and re-fill with fresh oil of viscosity
  • Drain fuel tank
  • Change fuel filter element and oil filter
  • Remove injector and pour a spoonful of SAE30 oil in the cylinder, rotating flywheel by hand to distribute the oil, then re-fit injector.
  • Wrap the engine in a plastic sheet and store it in a dry place, if possible without direct contact with the ground.
